Journal of Spanish Cultural Studies is an international peer-reviewed journal in the humanities that interrogates cultural production and cultural practices in or related to the nations comprised by the Spanish state. It promotes innovative theoretical and critical work at a high intellectual level that fills existing gaps in scholarship or rethinks the cultural meanings of previously studied material. Work is encouraged that addresses Spain's cultural diversity or its relationship to broader geo-political scenarios (Iberian Peninsula, Mediterranean, Europe, the Americas, Africa, Asia etc.).Submissions are invited on any historical period and in or across any cultural discipline, including, but not limited to: literary studies, cultural history, visual culture, cinema, media, performing arts, sound studies, intellectual history, philosophy, history of science, psychoanalysis, history of the emotions, material culture, anthropology, and religion. All work should engage with appropriate cultural theory and should offer detailed critical analysis of the material studied, exploring its relationship to wider cultural issues or cultural contexts. We do not publish surveys or essays that are purely descriptive or whose methodology is primarily quantitative. We encourage authors to consult past issues of the journal for models of scholarship previously accepted for publication (abstracts of all articles are available online to non-subscribers).
