Music Analysis has a broad scope across global music practices and from the past to the present day. Its articles draw on all branches of analytical, theoretical, cultural and historical research in music with the aim of understanding musical works and practices and the questions they pose. A distinctive feature of Music Analysis is its Critical Forum, in which authors reflect on current debates and new developments in the field, enriching the interchange of ideas and perspectives around recently published articles and books. The journal has also featured English translations of landmark essays in music theory and analysis.Music Analysis is published in association with the Society for Music Analysis (SMA).
